Sophie and I (Bev) are going to carry out our own little locker exhibition at in our course studio at Leeds College of Art! There are a few unused lockers, but so far we have started to coat the insides of two of them with white paint.
As you can see, the lockers are tall, deep and quite dark. We may need to install some lights inside to illuminate it! At the moment we are planning to exhibit our own work inside - ranging from two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks. We are also considering in exhibiting artwork outside Itty Bitty Art Committee, which has to follow a specific theme that we set (generally small art), but we are still discussing about it!
Our aim is to get this locker project up and running after the Easter holidays, so we hope everyone has an enjoyable Easter!
Cranes, cranes and plenty of them! Look! Oh, and there are plenty more to come...
These colourful cranes have been patiently made by Sophie, as I can recall she said she made at least 800 (or more) of these beauties (a meaning of good luck)! Origami is not really my best of areas (Beverly) but I'm willing to attempt the templates that Sophie provided in a previous post, and also to test my patience!
Relating to our topic on heirlooms and trinketry... origami could be said to be a 'heirloom' as it is a tradition of paper-folding, where the knowledge and skill has been passed through generations. An heirloom is something that has been passed through generations to reflect on our histories or treasuring something sentimental within a family.
There's even teeny tiny origami swallows, parrots and cranes!
This is all exciting! We are planning to fill this vending machine with origami creatures which will then be installed in a particular area around Leeds College of Art. Hopefully the library if we can get permission.
